USS Oklahoma - Memorial

As soon as we finished our tour of the USS Missouri we walked across the street to view the USS Oklahoma's Memorial, the architecture of the memorial was carefully planned to adequately represent those lost.

MANNING THE RAILS

"As Navy vessels pass through Pearl Harbor Sailors and Marines stand at attention along the ship's railing and superstructure. The crew's dress uniforms contrast sharply against the grey vessels.

The design of this memorial is a bold expression of the USS Oklahoma's lost crew members.

The symbolism incorporates Navy tradition, giving life to the memorial.

The black granite panels suggest the once formidable hull of the USS Oklahoma while the 429 white marble standards represent each of the lost souls. Each white marble standard is for an individual in his pristine dress uniform and is inscribed with his name and rank. Walk among the lost Sailors and Marines and understand their sacrifice.

In full dress uniforms the ship's crew stands at attention in a display of respect and honor. Coming home for the final time by manning the rails."

Dedicated December 7, 2007.

USS Missouri - Memorial

My husband and I toured the USS Missouri at Pearl Harbor, it is an amazing piece of history- something I think anyone who can make it out to Hawaii should plan to visit.

"Over this spot on 2 September 1945 the instrument of formal surrender of Japan to the Allied Powers was signed thus bringing to a close the Second World War. The ship at that time was anchor in Tokyo Bay."

A Glimpse at Times Square - Urban

Our last trip taken on the East Coast was to NYC... it was a cloudy, dreary, rainy day... but we were determined to make the best of it! We got some blurry shots and some beautiful shots, here is a glimpse at the ever famous Times Square:

Thomas A. Dixon Jr. - Aircraft Observation Area

Everyone likes watching airplanes land & take off, right? Well... I do anyway... it wasn't the sunniest of days, but I captured some good shots of a few planes coming in to land at BWI.

Rehearsal Details

My best friend is getting married... tomorrow! My husband and I attended the rehearsal dinner earlier this evening at Gilbert's Liberty Market, I happened to be the only one there with a functioning camera (dead batteries, flash wasn't working, etc.) so I played "photographer." Of course I took photos of the people... but I wanted them to be able to remember everything so here are some "detail" shots:

AZ Snow Dusting

Yesterday we had quite the winter storm for the Valley here in Arizona, I captured this image of The Superstition Mountains before the snow melted off completely. I love the contrast of the cacti, mountains, & snow.

Flower Bridal Shower

Yesterday I threw my bestfriend's bridal shower. She isn't really into pink so I wanted to stray away from that being the dominate color, she does however love flowers... so I took that and ran with it. A lot of DIY ideas came together, almost everyone's favorite thing was my "framed photo-booth." Here's a glimpse of the party-
